OpenAI has launched GPT-6 Sol and GPT-6 Luna, expanding its GPT-6 lineup with more affordable models built using methods developed for GPT-6 Astra.
Both models come with lower API pricing. Sol costs $2 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens, while Luna costs $0.10 and $0.50 respectively.
OpenAI says the models improve professional work, coding, computer use, factuality and alignment compared with their GPT-5.6 predecessors.
GPT-6 Sol is positioned for more demanding tasks such as coding, computer use and professional workflows, offering greater reasoning capability than Luna.
GPT-6 Luna is designed for faster, high-volume work such as summarising documents, extracting information and answering quick questions.
Sol and Luna are available through API, Codex and ChatGPT Work for eligible paid plans, while Luna is also available to Free and Go users through the desktop app.
