YouTube plans to let creators make AI-generated Shorts using their own likeness, a move similar to OpenAI’s Sora app.
Creators will be able to generate Shorts featuring AI versions or digital “twins” of themselves.
YouTube’s CEO Neal Mohan says the platform will integrate more AI tools in 2026, including game builders and music tools.
YouTube is also enhancing protections — including labels and filters — to guard against misuse of creators’ likenesses and low-quality AI content.
These tools aim to help creators express ideas in new ways, using AI to generate clips, characters, and formats.
YouTube will expand Shorts with additional formats and AI features while maintaining a high-quality user experience amid over 200 billion daily views.
