OnePlus is getting new UI, features its OxygenOS 14, to launch on September 25 with new Trinity Engine

Google may still be tightening some screws around the stable Android 14 build, but OnePlus has announced to launch its custom software skin, OxygenOS, based on the latest version of Android on September 25.

For all the OnePlus users, it means the company will start rolling out the update as early as next month. The OxygenOS also brings with it what the company calls the “Trinity Engine”.

While the OxygenOS 14 is scheduled to be released globally on September 25 (likely with OnePlus 12), the company hasn’t announced if there will be any event for the occasion.

OnePlus has claimed that the OxygenOS 14 will be one of the first operating systems based on Android 14.

The update is expected to bring a variety of new features that are designed to improve user experience.

“OnePlus has been committed to delivering a fast, smooth, and steady OxygenOS to our users. Powered by OnePlus’ latest innovations, OxygenOS 14 will be the most intelligent and intuitive software product in OnePlus’ history,” said Kinder Liu, President and COO of OnePlus.

While the build is already available to testers in beta form, the first batch of phones to receive Android 14-based OxygenOS 14 include the OnePlus 11, OnePlus Nord 3, and OnePlus 11R, with the OnePlus 10 Pro soon to follow.

So what is Trinity Engine? The OxygenOS 14 will debut with a new performance platform that will work to improve integration between hardware and software.

Trinity Engine is claimed to address “industry-wide challenges in terms of power consumption efficiency, multi-tasking capability, and sustained fast and smooth performance.”

OnePlus has used words like CPU Vitalization, RAM Vitalization, ROM Vitalization, HyperBoost, HyperTouch, and HyperRendering to describe the features of Trinity Engine.

There is little known about what these terms mean or what exactly Trinity Engine does, but it is believed that the technology by OnePlus will boost gaming performance on phones.

Some of the changes coming to OnePlus phones after the update include some very evident tweaks in the UI.

The control panel will look different with a new and more minimalist design. The icons will appear a bit bolder.

It also has moved a search option on the homepage, allowing users to look for an app with fewer clicks.

The sidebar will also be getting a file dock to quickly save files for a limited period of time.
